DENTON COFFIN RACES

Every October, the streets of Downtown Denton come alive with one of the most unique competitions North Texas has to offer, the Coffin Races! As part of the annual Denton Day of the Dead Festival, teams of costumed racers push handcrafted "coffins" on wheels in a mad dash to the finish line, cheered on by thousands of locals and visitors. Equal parts eerie and entertaining, the Coffin Races highlight Denton's creative flair, community spirit, and love of the weird and whimsical.
