PROPOSE A PROJECT

PROPOSAL TYPES

Proposals will fall into one of three categories. Experiences, Art Installations, or Other. Experiences include any activity that is interactive or has a show element. Art installations include any non-interactive decoration. Any other proposal will fall into the other category. You may choose any combination of the three categories if your proposal fits more than one option. Please review the examples below and apply them.

2025 EXPERIENCE PROPOSALS: THE MAZE

In 2025, local business owner Chuck Crosswhite pitched us several ideas for experiential activities. One of those concepts was The Maze.

2025 EXPERIENCE PROPOSALS: BIG TOP TENT

David Pierce, founder of Cirque Du Horror and Day of the Dead, pitched to us the idea of running shows in the Big Top Tent for the entire month of October. In the past, the tent was only open one weekend and ran only one show. We worked with his team to offer more events and extend the dates the tent was up.

2025 ART INSTILLATION PROPOSALS: THE MAZE DECOR

After the maze was confirmed, we looked for local creatives who could present their ideas for decorating The Maze. We ended up working with Dan Black, a local muralist, who proposed a mad science laboratory with interactive buttons and cameras, and a giant rat that served as a photo opportunity.

2025 ART INSTILLATION  PROPOSALS: AREA 940

Area 940 was pitched to us as a smaller art installation headed by James Thurman with the Denton Maker Center

2024 COMBO PROPOSALS: PHONE BOOTHS

Some ideas we were pitched meet the requirements of multiple proposal types. Bryan Walior "Wally" pitched us a combination of an art installation and experience. His team built 3 installations using old phone booths that provided a multimedia experience, encouraging visitors to find all 3 while solving a mystery as they looked for each booth.
