GETTING TO DENTON

  • What is the best way to fly into Denton? The closest airports to Denton are Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) or Dallas Love Field (DAL). 

    DFW INTERNATIONAL (DFW)

    1. Location: Situated between Dallas and Fort Worth, DFW is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.

    2. Airlines: DFW is a central hub for American Airlines and serves numerous other domestic and international carriers.

    3. Terminals: The airport has five terminals (A, B, C, D, and E) connected by the Skylink train, which provides quick and free transportation between terminals.

    4. Transportation: Ground transportation options include rental cars, taxis, ride-sharing services (Uber, Lyft), and public transit (DART Orange Line to downtown Dallas).

    5. Parking: Extensive parking options include terminal, remote, and valet services.

    LOVE FIELD (DAL)

    1. Location: Located just northwest of downtown Dallas, Love Field is much smaller and closer to the city center than DFW.

    2. Airlines: Southwest Airlines is the dominant carrier at Love Field, though other airlines operate there.

    3. Terminals: The airport has one main terminal with 20 gates, making navigating easier than DFW.

    4. Transportation: Ground transportation options include rental cars, taxis, ride-sharing services, and public transit (DART buses and a nearby light rail station).

    5. Parking: Parking options include garage parking, surface lots, and valet services.

  • What is the best way to drive to Denton? The primary route is I-35E N, which directly connects Dallas and the DFW area. From the west, I-35W N serves as the main highway from Fort Worth, merging with I-35E N as you approach Denton.

     

    Additional key routes like TX-121 N (Sam Rayburn Tollway from DFW Airport) and TX-183 W (from Love Field) provide convenient access to I-35E N, but note that some of these highways, including TX-121, are toll roads managed by the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA)

  • How do I get to Denton by train? You can travel to Denton by train using a combination of DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), DCTA (Denton County Transportation Authority), and TRE (Trinity Railway Express). 

    DALLAS TO DENTON

    1. Start on DART: Take the DART Green Line or Orange Line to Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton.

    2. Transfer to DCTA: At Trinity Mills Station, switch to the DCTA A-train, which runs directly to Denton.

    3. Arrive in Denton: The A-train will take you to the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC), located in the heart of Denton.

    FORT WORTH TO DENTON

    1. Start on TRE: Take the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) from Fort Worth to DFW Airport Station.

    2. Transfer to DART: At DFW Airport Station, switch to the DART Orange Line and ride to Trinity Mills Station.

    3. Transfer to DCTA: At Trinity Mills Station, board the DCTA A-train to Denton.

    4. Arrive in Denton: Exit at the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC).

GETTING AROND DENTON

  • How do I get around Denton using Public Transportation? Getting around Denton is easy with the DCTA (Denton County Transportation Authority) bus system. The system operates multiple routes connecting key areas like the University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, Downtown Denton, and Downtown Denton Transit Center. Riders can plan trips through the DCTA app or website.

  • How do I get around Denton using GoZone? GoZone is a convenient, public rideshare offering flexible and affordable transportation around the city. Book a ride through the app, and a GoZone vehicle will pick you up and drop you off at your desired location, making it easy to navigate Denton without the hassle of driving or parking.

  • Is downtown denton walkable? The downtown area of Denton, which hosts most of the 31 Days of Denton Halloween events, is around 1.5 square miles and hosts a variety of pedestrian walking paths, making it easy to get around by foot. Most areas of interest are within a few blocks of downtown.
